About rvaevents.ai
RVA Events is a free, community-focused event aggregator built to make it easier to find what's happening in Richmond. Every evening, an AI agent quietly goes to work — pulling from free, public sources to surface music, culture, family, history, volunteer opportunities, and park events all in one place. No paywalls, no ads, no agenda.
This project started as a personal experiment to learn AI, but it turned into something I actually think can help people. Richmond has so much going on — it just shouldn't be this hard to find it all. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, I'd love to hear from you at hello@rvaevents.ai.
How it works
Placeholder copy. A handful of scrapers and APIs feed into an n8n workflow that runs every night, cleans the data, and writes out a static JavaScript file. The site itself is plain HTML, CSS, and JS — no backend, no database, no nonsense. If something breaks, it's usually because a source site changed its HTML.
Who made it
Placeholder copy. Built by a small crew of Richmond locals who wanted a single place to see what's going on in town this week. If you'd like to contribute an event source, flag a bug, or collaborate — say hi.
